A Spiritual Perspective on Empaths, Highly Sensitive People and Old Souls

HSPs, empaths etc have a gift that is completely untapped!


When we see these gifts in the light of an unconditionally loving Creator who loves us deeply and wants to know us personally, our gifts take on a whole other level and we discover a purpose that's been built into our very soul.


Thanks to some life changing supernatural encounters in 2017, a whole new perspective on my HSP and empathic traits dawned on me. Since then, I experienced both spontaneous and gradual healing of issues that surpassed any prior coaching, therapy or spiritual work.


Thanks to a walk with our Creator, HSPs can understand the "hows" and "whys" of being built in a way that's so different to the norm. We see how our HSP/empathic nature is merely a precursor to something quite awesome.


A Life Pursued Trying to Understand Myself


Many years prior to finding God, I tested as a strong HSP with an HSS trait. Life as a sensitive soul was not easy in a world of Non-HSPs!


A difficult childhood/teenhood was followed by many years inner healing work as well as some years practicing as a therapist and life coach. I realized after a while that I have been highly empathic since childhood and not even known it.


As is the case with others with similar traits, none of my traits/gifts were recognized either in my family or at school. The medical/psychotherapeutic training I undertook also did not have the language or perspective to understand the breadth and impact of my empathic nature, experiences or gifts. Some frameworks had a spiritual understanding but, as I saw later, this understanding was completely missing the gold of HSP gifts.. Nevertheless, in hindsight, I saw how God led me to study these paradigms and then leave them in order to discover later what they were missing.


Seeking Answers Elsewhere


In 2017, after following a mysterious inner call, going on a spiritual journey and having some life changing encounters with God, these gifts took on a completely new level, all without me actually doing anything. God started me on a journey of training that followed no human syllabus, framework or school.


Most HSPs/empaths understand from their own life experiences that the vast majority of people are oblivious to their traits/giftings. After finding God, I saw how the whole other level to these gifts is impossible to know prior to a having personal relationship with God. People who have not known God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) cannot know or understand how much this trait covers, how they present themselves and what to do about it.


I believe HSPs, empaths and what some call "old souls" are uniquely designed with gifts the world cannot recognize because it just doesn't have the tools/abilities to. From an earthly point of view, these gifts could be seen as a "curse" or useful in some fields but from God's point of view, these gifts are another way God Himself shines His Light powerfully into the world.


"HSPs/Empaths" are Designed to be Pioneers


Since finding Him, God took me on a journey of learning and healing. My whole worldview is so different now and life so completely changed that I don't even see things through labels of "HSP", "empath" or personality tests anymore.


Some of the things I've discovered in recent years:


  • Knowing God brings new understanding, healing and purpose to our life
  • Our intuition is a God-given faculty which can be misused.
  • When we are supernaturally baptised in the Holy Spirit (an experience the Bible talks about which I discovered was very real) God opens our "spiritual eyes". We see and start to understand the "Kingdom of God' that Jesus speaks about.
  • By knowing God, we can also understand some things in the Bible that religious non-HSP folk cannot get, such as what Jesus and some of his disciples experienced and why. We can avoid the pitfalls of man-made religion and have a "purer" walk with God!
  • Our gifts (which were sometimes seen as a curse) cannot be fully understood or matured without Jesus Christ.
  • We discover how the full extent of how our gifts can be "misused" by ourselves or others spiritually.
  • We can more easily discern when something is from God vs. when something is not, including supernatural or paranormal experiences.
  • We can deal with challenging situations in a completely new way.
  • God has given us a unique gift and trait that is effective only when we work with Him.
  • We see how previous issues to do with HSP/empathic traits that affected our wellbeing at any stage of life could easily have been dealt with or even prevented IN God.
  • God gives us His view of prior spiritual experiences -- experiences that we previously had no context of and might've put in a category that is man-made (e.g. psychological/medical labelling).
  • We see how life is not just about what we can see/hear.
  • We see how we can live a spiritually nourishing life in relationship to a Holy, unconditionally loving Creator



If you're an HSP, empath or "old soul", never despair! You are uniquely talented and positioned!


Our spirit has a beacon to God and we're all designed to know and grow in Him. He transforms any "curses" to blessings!
